Learning Opportunities at the Farmstead
Learn to make artisanal cheese, soap and bread in a breathtaking alpine setting at the beautiful Stone Creek Farmstead! All classes include hands on instruction and take home recipes.
At our cheese-making class it all starts with the goats. You’ll meet our goats then use their milk to make French style Chevre fresh cheese, as well as a Mozzarella or similar cheese. We’ll discuss and observe cheese aging techniques, taste a variety of cheeses while exploring wine and beer pairings, and enjoy Chevre based hors-d’oeuvres. You’ll leave with your own hand crafted cheese and a new appreciation of this timeless delicacy.
At our goat milk soap making class, you’ll meet the goats and use their milk to make traditional, cold processed, soap in your choice of fragrance. Goat’s milk soap is prized for its exceptional moisturizing qualities. You’ll learn how to make “real” soap while using your imagination to craft an original creation of your own. No two batches are the same!
At the Stone Creek Farmstead bread making class we’ll make two distinctly different and unique breads. The first “no knead” bread is based on the ancient Roman technique, recently revived by the Sullivan Street Bakery in New York. These beautiful round, crusty, chewy, Italian style loaves are an easy to make delight! Our second bread is American heritage prairie style bread that never fails to draw rave reviews.
We hope to see you soon!
